Why retreat?
Retreating from your everyday life is so healthy, both for your mind & your body, it gives yourself rest to fully calm your nervous system, unwind from built up stresses, process difficult things and realign your values, hopes & dreams. It allows us to reconfirm where we are at and who we are, so we can go back into our regular routine with renewed energy & love of life. On my retreats there is yoga twice daily (optional obvs.), the morning session is Vinyasa, catering for all levels, we work hard improving our practice knowing there is plenty of relaxation later in the day, we end the morning session with meditation. Late afternoon brings a Yin, Sound Healing & Yoga Nidra sessions, promoting longer stretches and deep healing. I will have my assistant Emily to help you throughout. There is plenty to do for the rest of the day, relax by the pool, swim, read, hike, eat three healthy vegetarian meals a day, make friends & share our lives with plenty of laughter. We try journalling with varied daily prompts, I will be offering one to one sound healing sessions, there will be a workshop on inversions & arm balancing, the location has a games room plus there is an afternoon off to explore an Andalucian city if you’d like to.
I went on my second Yoga Retreat in 1998, at a studio in Clapham and I saw a flyer for a retreat on the island of Crete with Radha Warrell the wife of Derek Island, the man who brought the Ashtanga Yoga practice to the UK. I signed up for two weeks of daily 6am yoga knowing not a soul, at a time in my life when I needed something to look forward to & I wanted time to self study… so many lovely memories of the yoga, the teachers, the students, the chat & laughter with a wide variety of people, it was a life changing breath of fresh air! I think from then on I dreamed of having the privilege of hosting yoga retreats myself and providing clients with time & space to nurture themselves fully.
